Rwanda is the second smallest country in Africa and also the most densely populated with close to 9 million inhabitants. This population is mostly made up of two groups of people, the Hutus and the Tutsis. Who despite many similarities in culture and heritage, have a long history of bitter conflict.
Rwanda shocked the world in 1994 when nearly 1 million Rwandans, most of them Tutsis, were killed in the largest genocide Africa has seen in modern times. Communities were torn apart as neighbour killed neighbour, leaving many orphaned children and separated families. This had a devastating effect on the people and the economy. Even today. political and ethnic tensions make peace building very difficult.
Most of the people in Rwanda are involved in agriculture, so your donation could help someone growing coffee, tea, bananas or a variety of other crops. It is inevitable that the person you may chose will be suffering from effects of conflict as two-thirds of the population now live below the poverty line
You can help someone start a business and change their life forever by funding a loan in Rwanda today.
